FAQs

Yes, all sheds are designed in Australia and components are Australian manufactured.

In NSW, garden sheds are exempt from Council approval if designed and constructed in accordance with the development standards. Our studio kits have been designed to comply with the current regulations.

Each state has slightly different regulation. We have partners who can assist with regulations and council approvals for a minimal fee upon request.

Our sheds and other builds are made using Stramit® roofing, wall cladding and other roll formed steel products.

These are made from steel coil which has been independently tested and found to have a Spread of Flame Index of 0, in accordance with the Australian Standard AS1530.3.

This means that Stramit® products made from these steel sources and with the tested finishes would be considered non-combustible according to NCC 2019 Volume One Part C1.9(e) and Volume Two Part 3.7.1.1.

It is important to note that Stramit® sheeting is only one component used in construction of these building elements, and other components must also meet the necessary requirements to satisfy the criteria.

For information on performance of residences in a bushfire situation, please refer to the bulletin based on the NASH Bushfire Standard on the Bluescope® website.

Read Stramit’s full Flammability Statement here.

Of course – we design our sheds and patios to the 2019 National Construction Code of Australia, as well as AS/NZS 4600-2018, AS/NZS 1170.0,.1,2,3,4-2011, AS2870-2011, AS3600-2018 Australian standards.

As of August 2022, it is currently 8 weeks.

It’s best practice to keep your building clean and free from any dirt or contaminants.

A good wash with a hose from time to time will keep it looking great and free from rust.

Component manufacturers may also offer specific information on how to properly care for your building parts to ensure any relevant component warranty conditions are met.

As with any metal product such as a patio or car, keeping it clean will increase the lifetime of the product.

Yes, we have capacity to travel all over the state and install the kits to lock up stage or even completely fit off the kit from start to finish.

Extra charges apply for outside of Sydney Metro.

There is a 30 year structural warranty on the steel components of the shed.

Cedar windows and doors are warranted by the Manufacturer against defects in material that might result for a period of ten years from the date of installation.

The warranty shall remain in effect only if normal cleaning practices are followed periodically, as described in the ‘maintenance and cleaning instructions’ accompanying the warranty.

For the studios that are exempt developments, we supply our kits on a joists using Stramit’s subfloor system and Unipiers .

This enables us to remain within the guidelines of a removable structure.

We use ‘Nearmaps’, a sophisticated hi-res mapping system to locate the positioning of the site.

If a site inspection is required please book with the Shed Living team by contacting Bookings@shedliving.com.au, our friendly and knowledgeable staff would be happy to assist.
